Medford, Texas is hit by a violent tornado. Mary, Missy, and Meemaw take shelter at Meemaw’s house. Sheldon is away at a science competition in California with Dr. Sturgis. George Sr. and Georgie are driving back from a college football recruitment visit. The tornado destroys Meemaw’s house (including her gambling room) and damages the Cooper house.
Despite the tornado, Georgie is determined to marry Mandy immediately at a small courthouse ceremony before their baby is born. They drive through the post-tornado chaos to get married.
