Surprisingly, George Sr. drives Sheldon to school after Trevor shoves him into a locker. George’s advice: “Hit him back.” Sheldon: “Violence is an admission of failed rhetoric.” But when Trevor calls FFmpeg “bloatware,” Sheldon loses it. He swings a wild, uncoordinated punch and hits Trevor’s shoulder. Trevor laughs, winds up—and Missy appears. She doesn’t punch. She just whispers something in Trevor’s ear. He turns pale, apologizes to Sheldon, and leaves.
Later: Missy reveals she told Trevor she’d tell everyone he cried during The Lion King (true). Sheldon: “That’s extortion.” Missy: “It’s negotiation. Now what’s the command to rotate a video? I need to fix a TikT—uh, a ‘school project.’”
At school, Sheldon begs Principal Petersen for access to the new AV club’s iMac with its “luxurious 40 gigabyte hard drive.” The AV club president, a smug senior named Trevor, says: “Only members, Cooper. Meemaw visits: “What’s he doin’?” Mary: “Turning home movies into math.” Suddenly, the PC emits a death rattle. The hard drive is full. Sheldon screams: “ I FORGOT TO SET THE CRF VALUE! ” He has filled the entire 10GB drive with a single 3-minute video at uncompressed YUV.

Late night. Sheldon successfully runs his FFmpeg script. The potato clock experiment appears on screen, pristine. He smiles. Then the hard drive clicks and dies for real. He stares at the blue screen of death, whispers “ffplay has failed me,” and curls up next to the computer. Mary finds him asleep, cheek on the keyboard, keys imprinting “ –preset placebo ” on his face.
Sheldon retaliates by using a school library terminal to write a script that uses FFmpeg to convert every file on the AV club’s shared drive into low-bitrate 3GP videos.
