Mary (Zoe Perry) feels spiritually neglected. She signs up for “The Answered Prayer Couples Retreat” and begs George (Lance Barber) to attend. George feigns enthusiasm, then secretly books a weekend fishing trip with his coworkers. To cover, he tells Mary he’s “working double shifts.” Mary sees through the lie instantly but says nothing—she prays for patience instead. At the retreat alone, she befriends a flamboyant pastor who tries to teach her interpretive prayer dance. She walks out mid-song.

Here’s a fictionalized episode synopsis for Young Sheldon Season 2, Episode 7, written as if it were an official Blu-ray description and story treatment. Title: “A Prototype, a Prayer, and a Pricey Italian Sub”

When Sheldon discovers that his Meemaw’s illegal gambling room is running on a dangerously outdated computer system, he builds a homemade security algorithm to protect her operation—without telling her. Meanwhile, Mary tries to convince George Sr. to join her for a couples’ prayer retreat, but he secretly plans a fishing weekend with the boys. Missy, feeling invisible, starts a clandestine babysitting gig for a neighbor—and learns a hard lesson in asking for help. The episode ends with a chaotic family dinner where all secrets collide.

The family gathers for Sunday spaghetti. Meemaw mentions “Sheldon’s little computer project.” George blurts, “What project?” Mary says, “You mean the fishing trip you lied about?” Missy adds, “At least I didn’t lose a cat.” The table erupts. Sheldon calmly announces, “Statistically, this is the third-most functional dinner this month.” Meemaw laughs so hard she snorts iced tea. In the final shot, Sheldon is seen tucking his algorithm printouts into a “Top Secret” binder labeled Project Sarcasm Saver .
