Uploading 500GB of log files to a cloud object store takes hours and costs bandwidth fees. With the Desktop version, you keep the data where it lives—on your local drive, network attached storage (NAS), or HDFS cluster. Watson Studio Desktop runs the compute to the data, rather than forcing the data to travel to the compute. Highly regulated industries (Banking, Healthcare, Defense) often prohibit cloud storage of raw PII or PHI.
