Meanwhile, they are not alone in the cave for long. Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix), Jamie’s godfather and loyal companion, brings news. The Redcoats are still searching for them, but more pressing is the arrival of a band of men known as — a group of armed locals who act as a kind of vigilante protection force for the Highlands. They collect "protection money" from farmers and tenants, and in return, they keep the peace and fend off raiders.
Reluctantly, Jamie agrees. That night, the raid takes place. It is tense but relatively bloodless — The Watch intimidate the farmer and his family, take livestock and goods, and leave.
