This study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. A survey was conducted among 500 young adults (ages 18-30) in Tamil Nadu, using a questionnaire that included items on demographic characteristics, relationship experiences, and attitudes towards FWB relationships. Additionally, 20 in-depth interviews were conducted with individuals who self-identified as being in FWB relationships. The survey data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, while the interview data were analyzed thematically.
Previous studies on FWB relationships have primarily focused on Western cultures, with limited research on the Indian context, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
