[2021]: El Presidente S02e01 Amr

El Presidente Season 2 doesn't try to be The Wolf of Wall Street again. Instead, it aims for The Big Short —angry, smart, and deeply cynical. If the premiere is any indication, the beautiful game just got very ugly.

This is a deliberate choice, and it works. The tension comes not from lavish parties, but from the silence between words in a deposition. One particularly gripping sequence involves a 10-minute deposition scene that plays like a tennis match of legal jargon and veiled threats. It is masterful television. Rating: 4/5

The tonal shift to a legal/political thriller. Karla Souza's restrained fury. The chilling depiction of how the "small fish" are devoured first. What stumbles: A few supporting characters from Season 1 feel lost in the shuffle, and the episode occasionally struggles to balance a large ensemble cast.
