A new pop-up appeared. This time, it was a (Host Intrusion Prevention System) alert:
Elara never thought much about the little green box in her system tray. It sat there, a simple shield icon next to her clock, labeled Comodo . To her, it was just a nagging parent—always popping up to ask, “Do you really want to run this?” She always clicked “Yes” without reading.
A final message appeared, this one in plain English, from the Comodo module:
And in the system tray, a new notification appeared:
“Executable ‘sys_updater.exe’ has been automatically virtualized. It attempted to delete your Volume Shadow Copies and encrypt your documents. The real file is isolated. Would you like to Submit to Valkyrie for analysis?”
Elara froze. She hadn't opened any sketchy attachments. She hadn’t visited any strange sites. She was just watching cat videos.
