Ramesh tapped the first column. "The new furnace draws 800 amps. Simple. But this sheet asks a question the software doesn't: Is it continuous? A furnace isn't like a light bulb. It pulses. We don't just multiply by 1.25. We listen to the rhythm of the shift."
He moved to the next block of cells. "Temperature, soil thermal resistivity, grouping."
Ramesh closed the manila folder. He tapped the words one last time.
"Mukesh ran in with a CO2 extinguisher while the breakers were still chattering. Saved the substation. Lost the hearing in his left ear." Ramesh tapped a footnote on the sheet, written in red ink: "Add 20% for harmonic distortion. Don't let another man go deaf."
"Watch," Ramesh whispered.
Priya pulled up a stool, humoring him. "A story? It’s just Ohm’s law and a few derating factors."
