The Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa dedicate themselves to the service of the youth, the sick, and the needy, engaging themselves to be a sign of God's love among people in conformity with the charism of the Institute.
This Institute from the beginning has developed a profound consciousness that education of the youth is a vital component of the charism of its foundress St. Bartolomea Capitanio who held the youth "very dear to her heart" and committed herself whole-heartedly to their personal growth and development so that they would become agents of change for a just society.
Here are the three things I discovered after plugging this cursed thing into my retro-rig.
In the official version, your health bar is a static green line. In v1.01, the UI breathes . The ammo counter flickers like an old fluorescent light. At first, I thought it was a sprite flicker due to bad soldering. But it’s too deliberate. When your health drops below 30%, the screen border literally turns blood red and pulses. It induces actual anxiety.
I’m not talking about a prototype. I’m talking about a point-one patch from 1987. Last week, at a dusty flea market in Ohio, I found a loose gray cartridge with a peeling sticker that simply read: Alien Quest v1.01 .
Alien Quest v1.01 is not "better" than the final version. It’s broken, unfair, and the frame rate drops to single digits whenever you fire the plasma rifle. But it has soul .
Level three in the retail game is a grey space station. In v1.01, level three is a field of tall, swaying grass under a binary sunset. There are no enemies for the first 90 seconds. Just wind sounds. Then, you realize the grass is the enemy. The collision detection is so tight that you feel every brush against the flora damage you. It’s beautiful, quiet, and lethal. Why did they cut this?
In a conflict between the heart and the brain follow your heart.
