Fans of Aladdin , collectors of Disney sequels, and anyone who appreciates Alan Menken’s lesser-known work.

Performer: Ensemble Context: Opening number. Review: This is a brief, energetic reprise of a song that appears fully in the film’s opening wedding sequence. It’s pure celebration: trumpets, drums, and jubilant cries of “B’shara!” (Arabic for “good news”). While not a classic, it effectively establishes the joyous occasion (Aladdin and Jasmine’s wedding). Score: 6/10 – serviceable but forgettable. Song 2: Out of Thin Air Performers: Brad Kane (Aladdin) & Liz Callaway (Jasmine) Context: Aladdin and Jasmine’s romantic duet on their wedding night. Review: A beautiful, underrated ballad. Menken’s melody soars with a distinctly Arabian-flavored string arrangement, while Zippel’s lyrics focus on the wonder of love feeling like magic (“Out of thin air / A miracle came”). Kane and Callaway have perfect vocal chemistry. It lacks the showstopping power of A Whole New World , but it’s more mature and intimate. A hidden gem for Disney fans. Score: 8.5/10 Song 3: Welcome to the Forty Thieves Performers: Chorus & Merle Dandridge (uncredited, as the Oracle) Context: Aladdin infiltrates the thieves’ hideout. Review: A propulsive, percussive anthem. The deep male chorus chanting “Forty thieves! Forty thieves!” is genuinely menacing. The Oracle’s interlude adds a mystical, almost eerie quality. This song captures the gritty, dangerous tone the film tries (and often fails) to maintain. It’s not hummable, but it’s atmospheric and well-produced. Score: 7/10 Song 4: Father and Son Performers: Brad Kane (Aladdin) & Jerry Orbach (Cassim) Context: Cassim reveals he is Aladdin’s long-lost father. Review: The emotional core of the soundtrack. This is a tender, bittersweet duet about missed time and second chances. Orbach (the voice of Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast ) brings a weary, loving tenor as Cassim. The melody mirrors Out of Thin Air slightly, creating a thematic link between romantic love and familial love. It’s quiet, sincere, and surprisingly moving. Score: 9/10 (Best song of the film) Song 5: Are You In or Out? Performers: Jerry Orbach (Cassim) & The Forty Thieves Context: Cassim tries to rally the thieves for one last heist. Review: This is the “villain”/comic number, channeling Friend Like Me but with less success. It’s a swing-infused, jazzy call-and-response number. Orbach is charismatic, but the lyrics are repetitive (“Are you in or out? / Shout it, shout it loud”). It feels out of place next to the more earnest ballads. Fun in context, but not a standalone hit. Score: 5.5/10 Song 6: Arabian Nights (Reprise) Performer: Bruce Adler (The Peddler / Genie’s disguise) Context: Closing credits / epilogue. Review: A triumphant, full-orchestra reprise of the original Aladdin ’s opening theme. Adler’s voice is as warm and inviting as ever. It bookends the entire trilogy beautifully. Nostalgic and satisfying. Score: 8/10 Overall Soundtrack Review Grade: B+ (7.5/10)
